How to Clean Your Floors on the Cheap

You don't need fancy cleaners to keep your floor sparkling clean.  No matter what type of floors you have installed, you want to keep them beautifully clean.  Home steam cleaners are great but not cheap. There are a number of tips that you can try that work brilliantly to clean your floor and they're also really cheap.

A few drops of vinegar in the cleaning water will help remove grease. Dull, greasy film on no-wax linoleum can be washed away with 1/2 cup white vinegar mixed into 1/2 gallon water.

For fantastic wood floors then you will need Vegetable Oil and vinegar. Mix a 1 to 1 ratio of oil and vinegar into a solution and apply a thin coat. Rub in well.

If your wooden flooring is painted, combine 1 teaspoon washing soda into 1 gallon hot water and then use a mop, soft brush or sponge to wash the floor.  This also works wonders on mildew.

For brick and stone floors you can again utilize vinegar. Take a gallon of water and add in a cup of white vinegar. Scrub the floor with a brush and the vinegar solution. Rinse with clean water.

Vinegar is also fantastic if you have ceramic tiles on your floor.  Mix 1/4 cup white vinegar (more if very dirty) into 1 gallon water. You should find that this mixture is very effective at getting rid of dirt without too much in the way of scrubbing and you don't need to worry about having a film develop over the tiles. If you have hard water in your area then you will find that using soap and water is no where near as good because of the insoluble film that is left behind.

If black heel marks are a problem on your flooring then you can use baking soda.  It's really very easy as all you do is mix the powder with some water and rub it into the mark. Don't use too much water or the baking soda will lose its abrasiveness.

Before looking at flooring to instal you might actually look at how easy they are to clean.
